Ledwalls, future trends

Here are the future trends emerging at ISE, the leading European trade fair for entertainment and communication technologies.

At ISE, the leading European trade fair for entertainment and communication technologies, Ledwalls played a major role.

Here are the future trends emerging among the dozens of proposals from manufacturers worldwide.

Custom Ledwalls

Ledwalls with particular shapes are not yet so widespread, but the future is heading in this direction. In Barcelona, we saw many solutions for creating custom Ledwalls, relatively simple and effective.

Angles

Together with curvatures, they represent the most widespread form of customization. They have the advantage of widening the view to multiple sides of the installation and are often used as structural elements to define and separate space. Today, Led modules that can form angles on all sides are proposed, allowing the creation of parallelepipeds, columns, or cubes of various sizes.

Curved Ledwalls

The same applies to curved Ledwalls, which refine and soften curvature angles. In Barcelona, we saw perfect and impactful large cylinders. What makes the difference are segmented Led modules, and many of them were seen at this fair. A new generation bendable Led module is no longer a single piece but is composed of multiple segments that make it bendable internally. This results in more precise, gentle, and visually interesting curves.

Transparent Ledwalls

Although not an absolute novelty, their use has not yet been fully explored. What makes them unique is their ability to become transparent, almost disappearing, when the LEDs are off or in the presence of black parts in the image. This allows you to see beyond the screen while continuing to display content. Fake walls, low banners, even ceilings or corners, everything transparent and creative was seen in Barcelona.

Ultra-fine pitches

But the current trend is the race to reduce pitches (pixel pitch in technical jargon, in short, the distance between pixels). If we talk about fixed installations, today Led competes with everyone, from monitors to home cinema. And it will probably win because it is brighter, less bulky, versatile in shapes and configurations, and durable over time. Screens with 0.9 pitches were everywhere, but in one stand, we saw a prototype of a 0.3 pitch. So, also in rental applications, we expect a drastic reduction in pitches within one or two years, in line with the progressive affirmation of 4k as the reference format.

Thus, curved and angled Ledwalls, transparent or with ultra-high resolution, these are the new creative solutions available to designers in the near future. Thanks to the versatility of sizes and shapes, it is already possible today to design a Ledwall that perfectly fits the available space, in any context. This is particularly useful for non-traditional applications such as highly customized exhibition stands or artistic installations, but also for the creation of “stand-alone” objects such as cubes, columns, or banners.

Or anything else you can think of.
